Database of Arabic Proper Nouns

The CJK Dictionary Institute is engaged in the development and continuous expansion of a comprehensive lexical database for CJK languages consisting of approximately 13 million entries (see CJK Lexical Resources for details). Of these, over four million are proper nouns, such as personal names and company names.

Below are samples of our database of Arabic proper nouns, which includes surnames (S), given names (M=male, F=female) and place names (P). The sample shows both vocalized and unvocalized versions as well as phonemic transcriptions, English equivalents. We also have various systems for automatically transliterating as well as transcribing proper nouns (see Automatic Romanizer of Arabic Names).

We have also released our Database of Arab Names (DAN) containing approximately 2.4 million romanized variants of Arab personal names. See also our website for Database of Arabic Place Names.
